For around 18 months, you can start brushing your infant's teeth and you should get a toothbrush with soft bristles. The size and type of toothbrush a kid needs will change as they get older but one thing to always connsider is getting a toothbrush that is comfortable for them and not harsh on their tongue, gums or inside cheeks. Most kids toothbrushes will have a soft grip to make it easy for them to handle. Your toothbrush should ideally be changed at least once every 3 months or after any illness or infection that affects the mouth. As kids get older, you can encourage them to start brushing themselves (under your supervision) and once you're sure they've got the hang of it, you can leave them to brush independently.
